Canon USA brought in Studio@Gawker to help unveil their new Canon N wifi-enabled point-and-shoot camera and to encourage readers of Gawker, Jezebel and Lifehacker to always "be ready."
The Studio@Gawker team wanted to cast two influential creatives who value capturing their daily lives and everything that inspires them. Always-sassy fashion blogger Bryanboy was brought in, and I led the outreach to DJ Mia Moretti, up-and-coming NYC fashion icon and half of the DJ/violin duo The Dolls.
We wanted to ensure we didn't create a standard "day-in-the-life" video. Because this was a program for Canon, we wanted to ensure the style of the videos reflected a beautiful photographic quality worthy of the iconic camera brand. I worked with creative reps Schafler Artists to find Futuristic Films and director Michael Williams, whose stunning career in fashion photography and video was perfect for this project.
Our goal was to really showcase what these powerful little cameras can do. We gave the cameras to both Mia and Bryanboy and integrate their photos as quick snapshots in their videos as well as the posts that ran on the sites. This gave readers a personal tour of their unique New York City, and the unedited photos provided real examples of the camera's capabilities.
The results were two stunning videos, tons of photos and a unique inside look into what inspires two of New York's freshest creatives - all while showcasing the power of Canon's small-but-mighty Canon N.
